"intimate stage"

A series of intimate evenings of performance and video showings with food and drink produced by Dappin' Butoh from 2001 to 2004.
"is" was featured in an article on home theaters in the Seattle PI.

This monthly series began in June 2001. Joan Laage, Artistic Director of Dappin' Butoh founded in 1991, spent a month in Japan revitalizing her Butoh roots through intensive training with legendary co-founder Kazuo Ohno and his son and dance heir, Yoshito. The experience of studying and performing in the intimate atmosphere of the Ohnos' studio inspired her to launch her own series of intimate, small-scale performances, in which she could show her latest work, present the work of other artists, and share her extensive Butoh video library. Each month Joan created a new work and appeared on a bill with other artists. Dappin' Butoh was sponsored by Allied Arts Foundation for a few years. The last performance in the monthly series was May 2004 with Joan and d.k. pan. Since moving to Europe, Joan has presented two 'intimate stages" in her flat in Krakow, Poland.
